He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Franklin Rutledge and Viola Matilda Shane Rutledge; and his siblings, Donald Franklin "Frank" Rutledge (Edwyna Crews Rutledge), Ola Mae Rutledge Walker (William Walker) and Mary Jane "Myrt" Rutledge Fauver (Edwin Fauver).
He is survived by: his wife Jane Lunz Rutledge; his sons, Mark Evans Rutledge (Laura) of Driftwood and Brent Edwin Rutledge (Sheri) of Uvalde; his grandchildren, Garrison Rutledge Long (John) of Jourdanton, McCrae Rutledge (Natalie) of Cypress, Victoria Rutledge (Asher Wade) of Starkville, Mississippi and Connor Rutledge of DeSoto; and his great grandchildren, Evans Ruth Long and Ellison Grace Long.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Pryor Cemetery Cemetery. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (220 N High St, Uvalde, TX 78801).
