He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Barnes and Drew Barnes; and his son James Randall Newman. He is survived by: his wife Stella Parker; his caregiver Stella; his daughter Roxie Soliz (Jesse) of Sherman; his daughter-in-law Margaret Newman of Sherman; his grandchildren, Jon Soliz, Heather Goshorn (Sam) of Denison and James Newman of Sherman; his siblings, Richard Barnes (Mary) of Franklin, TN, Meda Beaty (Ted) and Neta Krause (Tom) of Collinsville; his brother-in-law Charles Cottrell (Wanda) of Sherman; his great grandchildren, Kylie Lowe (Jake), Luke Goshorn, Abram Goshorn, Mason Soliz of Denison and Lily Soliz of Sherman; and his great great grandchild Malcolm Lowe of Denison. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Jim's honor to Wounded Warrior Project or Denison Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) in lieu of flowers.
