He was predeceased by: his parents, John B Matthews and Goldie Noland Matthews of Moundsville, WV; his stepmother Catheryn Payne Matthews (San Antonio) of Mena; his siblings, Bob Matthews and Mary Goodrich; and his daughters, Brenda Yvonne Matthews and Karen Elizabeth Beard.
He is survived by: his wife Alice; his son Alan; his grandchildren, Emily Yvonne and John Thomas Beard; his brother Charles Norman Matthews; his cousin Robert Lee Noland; his siblings-in-law, Lila Nation and Van Nation (Betty); and also, David and Neill Ray Glenn.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery (4600 N Belt Line Rd, Sunnyvale, TX 75182).
