He is survived by: his children, Kathe Nelson, Kristen Nelson McMillan (Bill) and Jon Nelson; his brother Wesley Nelson (Janet); and his nieces and nephews, Kim Hughes Jones (Larry), Kim Nelson Cox (Brian), Pam Nelson Raney (Robert), Kaylynn Raney, Angela Oswald, Parker Nelson, Blair Nelson [Heather], James Robert Nelson, Wes Bringham (Carol), Randall Hughes [Sheri], Jake Jones and Morgan Cox.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sullivan Funeral Home (1801 Houston St, Vernon, TX 76384). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel in Vernon, Texas. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at the Prairie Point Cemetery.
