He is survived by: his wife Maria Del Carmen Hernandez; his children, Maria Castillo (Ernest), Maria San Juanita Hernandez (Raul Gamez), Raul Hernandez, Sr., Paul R. Hernandez, Sr. (Anna), Esmeralda Hernandez and Jo Ann Jimenez (Candido); and his siblings, Simona Salazar, Magdalena Valderrema and George Hernandez (Betty). He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
