He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfonso Avila and Juana Avila Reyna; his wife Minnie Avila; his sons, Ricardo Avila Jr. and Ruben Avila Sr.; and his siblings, Alfonso Avila, Rosa Gonzales, Martha Vargas, Blanca Avila and Roberto Avila.
He is survived by: his daughters, Martha Garcia (Jose) of Pasadena, Maria Rodriguez (Miguel) and Marisela Avila (Luis) of Victoria; his significant other Virginia Medina; his stepsons, Thomas Gomez, Richard Gomez (Esmeralda), Gilbert Gomez, John Martin Gomez (Marisol) and John Anthony Gomez (Nicole); and his siblings, Maria Guadalupe Avila, Julio Avila, Francisco Avila, Amparo Ramirez, Jesus Avila, Alicia Avila and Juanita Reyna. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter.
