He was predeceased by : his parents, Juan Orta and Lucia Gonzales Orta; his wife Anita Resendez Orta; and his siblings, Andrea Orta, Fannie Orta, Rita Orta, Pedro Orta, Juan Orta, Gregorio Orta, Luis Orta and Santiago Orta.

He is survived by : his sons, Joe Manuel Orta (Beatrice) of San Antonio and Robert Orta (Norma) of Victoria, Texas.; and his siblings, Mary Calzada and Edward Orta. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

“To Tio's family and my family friend Katie and her siblings please except my DEEPEST CONDOLENCES. I got to meet Tio again after I started visiting PL during the covid days. I would pull into town and go to Katie's house and that's where I got to meet Tio again. He was a really good person. I thought he was EVERYONE'S Tio. Going to be sad missing him. May you R.I.P. My friend.”
