He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcus Buchanan and Alice Buchanan (Copeland); his siblings, Bobby Buchanan, Fay Ward and Doris Reames; and his sister-in-law Nancy Kasberg.

He is survived by: his wife Lea Ann Buchanan of Waco; his children, Jennifer Gillen (Gary) and Jeff Buchanan (Melissa); his granddaughter Faith Sherrill; his children, Morgan Stevens (Blake), Brooklyn Buchanan and Blake Buchanan; his great grandchild Lillian Stevens; his brother Benny Buchanan (Heidi); and his siblings-in-law, Mike Kasberg and Paula Kapavik (Steve). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
