He was predeceased by: his parents, David Kenneth Gillespie Sr. and Janice Marie McDonald (Cox); his stepfather John McDonald; his sister Narvella Turner; and his nephew Jason Forsythe.
He is survived by: his significant other Tammie Gillespie; his sons, David Gillespie III and Matt Gillespie; his grandchildren, Ambree Walker, Aubree Gillespie and L. D. Gillespie; and his sisters, Marcella Jewell and Davey Ann Cox. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.
