She was predeceased by: her parents, Ford Dempsey and Edna Wood Dempsey; her brother Jack Dempsey; her husband Clayton Smith; her sons, Scott Colvin and Robert Byers; and her aunts, Eva Wallace and Eloise Tickle.

She is survived by: her son Steven Byers; and her daughters-in-law, Debbie Byers, Cheryl Byers, Zahna Colvin and Lori St. John. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grand-children and one great-great granddaughter.
