He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Maria Merced and Herminio Merced, Sr.; his wife Helen Compian; his children, Elizabeth, Herman III, Laura (Thaddeous) and Christina (Hunter); his grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Gabriel, Sophia and Alex; and his sisters, Marjorie and Tami (Pierre). He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews.
