Jerry Echols wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Elouise and family, This is Jerry Echols. We found out that Kenny passed away just yesterday, and wanted to convey our deep sorrow and condolences to all of you in the family. We left yesterday to go out of state and will not be able to attend the service tomorrow. Margaret and I would definitely be there if we were in Waco. Kenny had an enormous impact on the music world, as well as myself personally. I gained so much as a drummer by playing alongside of Kenny! God's peace to you all.JE”
