He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Byrd and Wanda Byrd (Cassell). He is survived by: his wife Mary Lynn Kelley; his children, Matt (Katie Byrd) of China Spring, TX and Keli (Tucker Etheredge) of Grandview, TX; his grandchildren, Hannah, Micah, Judah Byrd, Caleb, Creighton and Haylie Etheredge; and his siblings, Gary (Melodee Byrd) of Palestine, TX and Gayla Byrd of Lake Palestine, TX..

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lake Shore Funeral Home & Crematory (5201 Steinbeck Bend Dr, Waco, TX 76708). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at the China Spring Cemetery (near 15654 Old China Spring Rd, China Spring, TX 76633).
