He was predeceased by: his parents, Ramon Benavides and Marcelina Benavides; his wife Ophelia Benavides; his sister Ruth Hernandez; and his brother-in-law Valente Hernandez Sr. (Tony Gomez Sr.) of Houston.
He is survived by: his sisters, Nora Gomez of San Antonio and Gloria Sabo of Pittsburgh; his brother-in-law John Sabo; his daughters, Marian Olivarez (Joe Olivarez) and Irma Koziol (Ken Koziol); and his grandchildren, Nicholas Olivarez, Kaitlyn Olivarez, Ashley Olivarez, Sean Koziol and Alexis Koziol. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
