With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marcella V. Schmidt of Weslaco, Texas, who passed away on December 17, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leandro Vasquez and Teodora Herrera; her husband Walter K. Schmidt Sr.; her stepfather Andres Alaniz; her siblings, Connie Cordova, Emilia Salinas, Lupe Tall and Raul Alaniz; her nephews, Jose Rene Cordova, Raymond Tall, Hernan Salinas and Pedro Salinas; and her niece Guillermina Salinas.
She is survived by: her children, Diana Trevino (Jose), Walter K. Schmidt Jr. (Emily), Mark H. Schmidt (Estela) and Maryann Schmidt; her grandchildren, Veronica Mahill, Beatriz Hom, Gabriel Trevino, Marcella Bumpus, Melissa Woodard, Natalie Schmidt and Isaac Schmidt; her great grandchildren, Elise, Annalie, Savannah, Malia, Johanna, Nyla, Giovanni, Andrew, Nolan, Micah, Hezekiah, Isaiah and Joel; her brother Gaudencio Alaniz (Minnie); and her sister-in-law Vivian Salinas. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
