He was predeceased by : his parents, Jim Higginbotham and Edith Higginbotham; and his siblings, Helen Hogg, Elmer J. Higginbotham, Farrington Higginbotham, Buck Higginbotham, Ruth Hodo, Laura Welch, Loraine Jacobs and William Higginbotham.

He is survived by : his wife Betty Higginbotham; his sister Barbara Grice (Fred) of Corsicana; his children, Keri Robin (Gary) of Vidor, Ssgt James Higginbotham, Shara Borden, Mark Ayers (Annette) of Whitney and April McKinney of Whitney; and his grandchildren, Jamie Kidder, Luke Cooper, Kelli Moore, Joshua Borden, Brittany Rosenoff, Nicholas Higginbotham, Katherine Sterling, Houston Higginbotham, Abigail Ayers, Madeline Justus and Macy McKinney.
