Paula J. Long, 71, of Winnie, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She was born on August 27, 1952, in Sulphur, Louisiana. Paula was the daughter of the late Joseph Bernard and Bettie Lou Lejune Bertrand. She dedicated her career to education, serving as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher for the Anahuac Independent School District for many years until her official retirement. Notably, she embraced her role as an international exchange coordinator since February 28, 2024.

Paula's roots trace back to Hamshire Fannett High School, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and cherished memories. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as she adored her role as a substitute teacher and found joy in nurturing young minds. Paula's love for her grandchildren knew no bounds, and she cherished spending time with them, especially during family nights every Monday, including her bonus family.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and the love of her life of 23 years, Thomas Long. Paula leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her devoted children, Faith Morvant and husband Wesley of Hamshire, Shane Thibodeaux and wife Sherry of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Rachel Trahan of Hamshire; her grandchildren Challan and Khaymen Staton of Winnie, Drevan Morvant of Hamshire, Talis Trahan of Winnie, Trinity and Tnes Trahan of Hamshire, and Curtis Fox of Winnie; and a great-grandchild on the way.
