Jon-Gregory O'Neal Watson Obituary

Jon was born May 22, 1976 in Greenville, Texas to Medford Watson and Beverly Gregory. He grew up in Sulphur Springs, but spent most of his out of school time in Hunt County with his Watson cousins and family.

Jon loved all things outdoors, from hunting arrowheads (of which he was an expert) all the way to just enjoying watching the birds at a feeder, or the deer in the woods. He loved animals of all sorts. A larger than life man, with a tender heart. He loved big and was fiercely protective of his family.

He was friend to many, and those friends rallied around his family to help in so many ways the last couple of weeks since his recent diagnosis. We his family will never forget the outpouring of love shown from so many people. It truly made a difference for us, with your prayers, calls, visits and just love.

Jon became a dad in 2008 when Trace was born to he and Micca. He was so proud of his new son, that it was hard for him to contain himself. Trace has been the light of his life since, sharing in his dad's love of adventure and the great outdoors.

He strongly believed in the power of prayer, and was saved as a young man and gave his life to Jesus at Peniel Baptist Church.

Jon is survived by his parents, Step-dad Keith McCord, brother Jeremy Herman (wife Kerry), sister Scarlett Gibbins (husband Chris), son Trace Watson and his mother Micca Clark, grandmother Betty Julian, grandfather Marvin Gregory and his beloved nieces and nephew, Lexie, Tori, Mollie and Jace. As well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his "Granny" Oreta Watson, and grandfather Manford Watson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Jon's name to either the Hopkins County Veteran's Memorial, or Lake Country CASA.
