He was predeceased by : his parents, David Phillips and Gloria Kilsby Phillips. He is survived by : his wife Shirley Berger Phillips; his children, Darlene Duke "Dee Dee", John David Phillips Jr. (Valorie) and Jim Edwin Phillips (Christine); his grandchildren, Robert Duke Jr., Abigail Duke, Jadie Howard, John D. Phillips, III and Dana Phillips; and his siblings, Jeanette Clark, Diane Bosarge, Michael Phillips and Robert Phillips. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
