She was predeceased by : her parents, Melvin Walter Grant and Leona Andreasen Grant; her husband Walter Dennis Newman; her siblings, LaRae Lockwood and Leo Grant; and her granddaughter Lisa Jorgensen.

She is survived by : her children, Charisse Decker (Bruce) and Karen Jorgensen (Steven). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
