He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Nelson Abbott and Florence Elizabeth Durrant Abbott; his stepmother Mazie Shell Abbott; his siblings, Stephen Paul, Ronald Kent, Orland Kay, Gary Nelson, Kenneth Jay and Irene Elizabeth Thompson; and his grandson Keith Leroy Buhler.
He is survived by: his wife Dianne; his children, Kristi Castagno (BJ), Danyelle Leach (Eric), Amy Johnson (Blair), TJ Abbott (Rebecca), Aaron Abbott (Melissa), Thaddeaus Abbott (Sara), Tara Merrill (Timothy) and Josh Abbott (Brittany); and his siblings-in-law, Sue Abbott, Linda Abbott and Merrill Thompson. He is also survived by 46 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
Tom graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in advertising and public relations in 1970 and afterwards, moved to Boise, Idaho, where he worked for the March of Dimes National Foundation.
