She was predeceased by: her parents, David Willard Hess and Elvira Nielsen Hess; and her husband Frederick Lee Scholes. She is survived by: her children, Thomas Frederick Scholes and Cheryl Lynn Nelson. She is also survived by grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
