He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Lloyd Thayne and Annie Hannah Monson; his close friend Dawna Daines Thayne; his sister Karen Vee Packer; his children-in-law, Melanie Thayne and Stephen John Martin; and his granddaughter Amy Kathryn Martin.
He is survived by: his children, Kathryn Young (Thomas), Michael Lloyd Thayne (Julia), Rebecca Ann Barker (Steve), Kristine Smith (Gordon) and Richard Hatch Thayne (Jamie); and his siblings, Edith Ann Thayne, Dennis R Thayne and Cynthia Boyd (Gerald). He is also survived by 27 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren and even 6 great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Book Hotel Kays Creek Stake Center (2680 E Cherry Ln, Layton, UT 84040). A burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Book Hotel Pleasant Grove Cemetery (600 N 100 W, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062).
