He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Richards and Maggie Leatha Wilding Richards; his daughter Jill; his former wife Joan Norman; his wife Deon Merkley; his grandchildren, Stephanie Jeppsen Bennett, Hollie and Natalie Jeppsen; and his siblings, Wanda Day, Dean Richards and Faye Nichols.
He is survived by: his children, Jolynn Croft (Alan), Jana Jeppsen (Gardner), Gaylene Morrill (Kelly), Joan Stradling (Frank), Stewart Richards (Kacey), Mike Richards (Carrie) and Jerolee Cheney (Matt). He is also survived by 37 grandchildren and 74 great grandchildren.
