He was predeceased by : his parents, Flossie Rusell and William Edwin Turpela; his grandson Chelton Turpela; and his siblings, Darlene Perkins, Elden, Blaine, Ed and George.

He is survived by : his sister Gloria Johnson; and his grandchildren, Chyann Gladden and Sara Robbins.
