He is survived by: his parent Lanna Rae Daley Lafferty; his former spouse Lesley Ann Daniels; his children, Mazie Lafferty, Malachi Sparks Lafferty and Kahliapi Rose Lafferty; the parent of his children Lesley Ann Daniels; his son Benjamin Sparks Lafferty; his father Mark Lafferty; his siblings, Alaine Meek (Nathan), Rachelle Arlint (Greg), Marianne Davis (Adam), Jonathon Lafferty and Becky Foster (Johnny); and also Leilani Trusler (Sammi).

“My deepest condolences to Derek’s family. I am shocked and saddened by coming across this news. Derek was my childhood best friend during the late 70s. He lived right next to me in Glendale CA, where we also attended school together. I never saw him again after my parents moved in 79’ to Miami FL, and I always missed him to this day. Derek and his family were the best neighbors we had back then. I still think back on my few years with him and his family. Sincerely, William Martinez”
