He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Leonard Hunter and Mary Mae Atkinson. He is survived by : his wife Jean; his siblings, Eral Hunter, Dorcas Tuft (Gerry) and John Hunter (Judy); and his children, Boyd Hunter (Angela), Kathy Bigleman (Ryan), Melanie Thomas (Nate), Julie Smith (Justin), Steven Hunter, Heidi Gordon (Jake), Melissa Denison (Aaron) and Allison Slack (Justin). He is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 4 grandchildren's spouses, and 3 great grandchildren.
