He was predeceased by: his parents, G. Dean Benson and Anna V. Stones; his wife Janet Cox; his sisters, Joan Rasmussen and Luwaine Roth; his grandson Brayden Lynn Packard; and his great grandchild Jayden Benson.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Lynn Benson (Krystal), Janet Packard (Kent), Trevor Cox (Dixie) and Dustin Cox; and his siblings, Larry Benson (Connie) and Evelyn Andrus. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
