He was predeceased by: his parents, John Albert Stock and Glenna Stratton; his son Darrel Theodore Stock; the parents of child, John Albert Stock and Glenna Stratton; and his brother Royce Arthur Stock.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Spallone; his children, Michael Dean Stock, John Clayton Stock, Brian Clair Stock, Stephen Durrant Stock, David Anthony Stock and Julie Ann Stock-Lagasse; his stepchildren, Steven P, Robert J, Patrick M and Lauren C Cafro; and his sister Bonnie Hafen. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and many many great-grandchildren and his extended family, friends.
The work earned recognition and support from the Utah Native Plant Society and remains an important contribution to botanical science and conservation, fundamentally shaping how native desert species are classified and preserved for generations to come.
