He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Margaret Christensen and Louis Hansen Hougaard; his wife Wilma Tuttle; and his sibling LaRue Nielsen. He is survived by: his siblings, Elizabeth LuDean Cox, Giles Thomas Hougaard and Harold "Ted" Hougaard; and his children, Kathy Hougaard Lively, Ethylen Perkins (Brad), Halbert Louis Hougaard (Becky), Michael John Hougaard (Victoria) and Mark T. Hougaard (Stephanie).
