We announce the death of Matthew Daniel Leyba of Midvale, Utah, born in Price, Utah, who passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 71. Matthew will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his brothers, Bill and David; his parents, Frank Leyba and Carmen Leyba; his brother Tommy Leyba; and his wife Shirley Manzanares.
He is survived by: his daughters, Misty (Benjamin Bishop), Stephanie (James Houtz) and Erica (Felix Montanez); his grandchildren, Brendan, Christy (Nick), Dominic, Matthew "Gabe", Quincy and Nia; his siblings, Francis Martinez (Mickey), Robert Leyba (Gloria), Vickey, Jo Ann Leyba, Matilda Carter, Beverly Ellis (Ray), Debbie and Jackie Draper (Tim); his niece Chastady Manzanarez; and his close friend Ruben Lopez (Matt).
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery (6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT 84084). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
