He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Edward Houck and June Peterson; his wife Debbie Lee Houck; and his daughter Heather Lynn Best. He is survived by: his children, Stephanie L. Laser (Paul) and Kevin M. Houck (Kaylee). He is also survived by three children and a deeply loved grandfather—known as "Paha"—to ten grandchildren.
