He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Gibbons and Ada Gibbons; and his sister Betty Havens. He is survived by: his wife Edith; his children, Doug (DeAnn Gibbons), Kent (Heidi Gibbons), Glen Gibbons, David (Christy Gibbons) and Deborah (John Walker); and his sister Linda Thorne. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
