Though Derek may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Derek touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his father Lewis. He is survived by: his mother Donna; and his siblings, Wendy Drecksel, Jason Drecksel (Becky), Christian Drecksel, Burke Drecksel (Meg) and Valerie Jensen (Henning). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM and at 11:45 AM at the Edison Ward (1401 West 700 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84104). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at 10600 S 1700 E, Sandy, UT 84092.
In later years he developed Parkinson's disease.
