She was predeceased by: her husband A. LeRoy Bouwhuis; her parents, Stuart Swenson and Retta Swenson; her granddaughters, Heidi Hansen Clark and Annie Melissa Hancock; her daughter-in-law Robin Bonner; and her siblings, Bruce and Bea Swenson.

She is survived by: her children, Michelle Hansen (Larry), Brian S. Bouwhuis, Lisa Hancock (Steve) and Lori Ratcliffe (Mike); and her siblings, LaDon Swaner (Gene), Val Swenson (Marcia) and Clark Swenson (Ellie). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
