He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Nelson and Rose Lee Lutz Nelson of Garden City, Utah; his daughter Stephanie Christiansen (Chris Julian) of Ogden, Utah; his stepdaughter Cristi Boyack of Whitney, Idaho; his grandson Joseph Nelson of Layton, Utah.; and his brothers, David and Charles "Chuck" of Ogden, Utah..

He is survived by : his wife Judy Baird of Riverdale; his son Todd Nelson (Nancy) of Layton; his stepchildren, Tracy Haderlie of Riverdale and Shireen Van Orden (Matt) of Shelly, Idaho; his children-in-law, Bryan Boyack (Cristi) and Cami Johnson; and his brother Robert "Butch" (Dixie) of Laketown, Utah.. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren.
