He is survived by: his wife Barbara McNaughton; and his children, Jon McNaughton (Tammy), Bethany Sinks (Todd) and Jordan McNaughton (Mila). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In recognition of his contributions to athletics, he was inducted into the Mesa City Sports Hall of Fame.

“It was with shock and sadness to hear of Austin’s passing. I served under him and Barbara at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Temple Square, and learned to love them both. Barbara and I connected, and will be “forever friends”, I know, No one truly dies..they just move on to another realm we can’t see, I have no doubt he was welcomed home by their son, Clayton, who passed way too young. Please accept my sincerest sympathies and love for you at this difficult time,”
