He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Arvel Yates and Lillian Melba Duke Yates; and his brother Thomas Howard Yates. He is survived by: his wife Dawn Joy Bushnell Yates; his children, Suzanne Hunt (Ray), Michael Yates, David Yates (Jennifer), Kristi Bates (Corey), Mark Yates, Doug Yates (Brooke), Steven Yates, Tim Yates and Holly Steggell (Thomas); and his sister-in-law Connie Yates. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
