With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jay Spongberg of Orem, Utah, born in Long Beach, California, who passed away on March 10, 2024 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Virgil Heller Spongberg and Ethel Thomas; his significant other Isabell Jean Young; and his siblings, Joyce, Marjorie and Roland.

He is survived by : his children, Mark, Roland (Sandee), Craig (Robyn), Connie Ricks (Stan) and Karen Schiess (David). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

“I was unaware until this AM of Jay’s passing. I had promptings to connect with Jay these past months- he knew my father. I was employed by Jay for 2 years as grounds keeper; he was my mentor. I asked all the wards and stake members if they felt like the grounds looked beautiful and they agreed with me. I urged them all, a countless many, to share this sentiment with Jay.
