He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Ardella Jansson and Milo LeGrande Rowan; his wife Ruth Davenport Rowan; and his sons, Michael Lee Rowan and David Richard Rowan.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Rowan (Tammy), Marla Rogers (Don) and Carol Lindgren; and his sister Ruth Rowan Draper Crockett. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren.
