He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Henry and Florence Billings Gappmayer; his son David Gappmayer (Kathleen); and his siblings, Beatrice Pyne, Leland Gappmayer and Louis Gappmayer.

He is survived by: his wife Marie Healy Gappmayer; his children, Kurt Gappmayer, Reed Gappmayer, John Gappmayer (Rebekah), Malissa Hunter (Travis), Emily Rowley, Christian Gappmayer (Erin), Erin Shelley (Corey) and Aleksa Porter; and his brother Richard Gappmayer (Anne). He is also survived by 31 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Mapleton Stake Center. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at the Orem City Cemetery.
