He was predeceased by: his parents, Germán Puertas Polo and Petronila Sagástegui; his siblings, Jorge, Zarela, Alicia, Enma, Teófila and Blanca Teresa; and his daughter Jackeline.
He is survived by: his spouse Rolanda Jimenez Lozada; his grandchildren, Kristofer, Kimberly, Jeremiah and Joshua; his siblings, Nicanor, Segundo, Luisa, Javier, Filiberto and Graciela; his close friend Rolanda; and his children, James (Angela), Raphael (Eliana), Kenny (Lylly), Jessica (Pita), Wilford (Rayanna), Howard (Anna) and Steve (Hillary). He is also survived by his 31 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and currently has 4 grandchildren.
