Donal Savage Obituary

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle Donal Savage passed away Thursday November 11, 2021, in St. George, Utah. Donal was born December 10, 1942, in Salina, Utah to Don and Lillie Savage. They spent some of that winter in Koosharem, Utah 1942 because they were unable to make it home due to the harsh winter weather.

Donal grew up in Antimony, Utah with his mother Lillie and his father Don, brother Alma Lynn, and sister Kathleen on their farm raising cattle & potatoes. He loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and camping. Donal served an LDS mission in Isle of Man, Ireland Mission from the years 1962 thru 1964. After returning from his mission, he attended Utah Trade Technical Institute at Provo and earned a certification in diesel mechanics in 1966.

Soon after that Donal was set up on a blind date with his lifetime love LuWanna Maloney. They were married for time and eternity August 2, 1968, in the St. George, Utah Temple. From that day on Donal and LuWanna settled down in St. George, Utah and raised their family. Together they had two daughters, Rebecca and Sandra, and their son Kimp.

Donal worked in a few different gravel pit companies over the years as a heavy equipment operator, running rock crushers, and driving semi-trucks making gravel and dirt deliveries. There came a time when his son Kimp worked with him at the gravel pit. Kimp was operating the loader and dusted Donal out more than once. The whole crew got a good laugh at his expense.

Later on, Donal suffered a serious hand injury in 1996 while working under the crusher by a conveyor belt. This turned out to be a blessing as it showed him to enjoy life more and that work wasn't the main priority in life. Donal really enjoyed his grandchildren and spent quality and vast amounts of time with them telling them all his stories.

He would show them where he would babysit cattle on the mountain during his summers growing up, as well as hunting, fishing, riding 4 wheelers (pack a lunch because you would be gone all day long), going on rides in the car just to get out and explore the country in grew up he loved so much. Some memorable vacations were spent in Montana, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore as well as an Alaskan cruise.

Donal was rarely seen without the love of his life LuWanna during his retirement years. Donal was a born with the gift of gab. He would befriend anybody and would help out those in need. He had a huge heart and was willing to give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Hours could easily be spent downtown if he ran into friends.

Along with his return visits to Antimony, Donal could be found at the Antimony Merc upon its opening every morning to enjoy coffee with his friends. He was quick to catch up on the town's updates, as well as any new gossip and relay that information to his family.. Donal is survived by his wife LuWanna, children Rebecca Wigington, Sandra Savage, Kimp (Kesha) Savage.

As well as 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Donal is preceded in death by his parents Don & Lillie Savage, in-laws Nelson & Amy Maloney and son-in-law Steve Wigington. Family would like to thank staff at Dixie Regional Medical Center and Dixie Home Rehab for the care they showed him and LuWanna. A viewing will be held Wednesday November 17, 2021, from 6pm to 8pm at Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, Utah.
