He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eugene Hyrum and Edda Mae Synder Glade; his siblings, Rulon, Robert and Dawn; his wife Janis; his children, Cary (Tammy Jordan), Heather (Brian Martin), Holly and Rulon; and his sister Gloria Bonham.

Decades later, he returned as Deputy Commander, Naval Support Force Antarctica for the National Science Foundation.
