He is survived by: his wife Betty Maughan Mathie; his children, Shari Merrell (Scott), Dana Engemann (Andrew), Mike Mathie and Jodi Gardner (Tim); and his grandchildren, Geoff Merrell (Brie), Sydnee Pope (Blake), Brady Merrell (Jenna), Chase Merrell (Phoebe), Haley Burr (Chris), Cole Engemann (Lydia), Cade Engemann (Jessica), Wyatt Engemann (Emily), Jake Mathie, Avri Mortenson (Austyn), Clay Gardner (Madi), Brigham Gardner (Mayen), Lincoln Gardner (Lexi) and Tatum Gardner.
Viewing will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (511 Valley View Dr, St. George, UT 84770). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Tonaquint Cemetery (1777 S Dixie Dr, St. George, UT 84770).
