He was predeceased by: his parents, Reed Gilbert Hunter and Nona Call Hunter; his sister Barbara Jean Hunter Archibald; and his grandson Joseph Hunter Kennefick. He is survived by: his wife Christine Wright Hunter; his children, Hillary Hunter Whitcomb (Jeff), David Reed Hunter (Kate), Mindy Hunter Larsen (Gary), Karsen Hunter Cranney (Kevin), Joshua Gary Hunter (Chelsi), Abby Hunter Lamb (Peter) and Morgan Mabey Eiting (Austin); and his uncle Gary.

Viewing was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Monument Park Stake Center (1320 S Wasatch Dr., Salt Lake City, UT 84108). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery (2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84108).
