He was predeceased by: his parents, Axel Mathiesen and Edith Mathiesen; his wife Beth; his brothers, Paul and Steve; his grandson Kyle; and his great grandchildren, Bennett and Bella.

He is survived by: his children, Cindy Mathiesen, Jeffrey Mathiesen (Mindy), Randall Mathiesen, Jennifer Mathiesen (Chris Yaws), Jonathan Mathiesen, Stephanie Husler (Brian) and Kurt Mathiesen (Mariko); and his sisters, Lone Stephens and Judy Warner (Rick). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews.
