Lynette Stroud Obituary

Ileen Lynnette Stroud was born February 17, 1952 to William Glenn and Ileen Smith Stroud in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away July 3, 2025 at the age of 73.

Her parents were excited to be parents and welcomed Lynnette after 3 ½ years of marriage. They took her shopping for their first car when she was just 10 days old.

Lynnette and her sister Christine, who came along just 16 months later, grew up in a loving home close to extended family. She was raised in a simpler time when kids could be “free range”, playing outside, riding bikes and roller skating around the neighborhood.

Lynnette was an animal lover with a gentle spirit, always a champion for the underdog who believed everyone should be treated with compassion even when battling her own self doubts.

After graduation from West High School, Lynnette served an 18 month mission to Uruguay for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held various callings in the LDS church and loved teaching.

She worked for Aztec Printing and O C Tanner but her greatest joy and passion was researching names and gathering stories for the Family History Center at the Church Office Building. She did a lot of work on her own family lines and felt it was a privilege to be a temple worker in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

Lynnette is survived by her sister Christine (Doug) Allen, nieces and nephews, cousins, one aunt Yvonne Murdock, loving daughters-of-her-heart MaryAlice & Charlotte Nelson and especially her close life-long friends who cherish memories of her. She was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents and extended family members.

Though Lynette has departed this earthly realm, their legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May their spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
