It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Walter Maurice Sonntag in Salt Lake City, Utah, who passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Alois and Lydia Maurine "Molly" Christensen Sonntag; his brother Arch Christian Sonntag; and his brother-in-law Douglas MacLean. He is survived by: his children, Shari Hurst (Tad), Julie Blackham (Byran), Cathy Mackay (Richard), Kim Gillett (Eric), Wally Sonntag (Carrie), Ron Sonntag (Becky) and Ashley Gilmore (Ian); his siblings, John Sonntag (Alberta) and Maurine "Renie" Sonntag MacLean; and his sister-in-law Norma Fallows Sonntag.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (4568 S Holladay Blvd, Holladay, UT 84117).
