He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland Frank Bates and Ruth Elizabeth Maycroft; his wife Shyrl Faye Broschinsky; and his brothers, Paul George Bates and Leland Maycroft Bates.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey (Sue), Kevin (Jamie), Leslie and Amy (Todd). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
